Living Our Faith

At St. Andrew Catholic School, faith is at the heart of our community, shaping our curriculum and daily experiences. Our mission is to nurture each child's spiritual growth, instill strong character and moral values, and inspire a commitment to service. We encourage our students to recognize God's presence in their everyday lives.

Prayer is an integral part of each school day, beginning and ending our time together. Students also pray before classes and meals and are encouraged to pause in gratitude or reflection throughout the day.

Religion classes are an essential part of each school day across all grade levels. Our curriculum begins by introducing students to the many blessings in their lives, fostering an awareness of God’s presence. As they advance, they deepen their understanding of the sacraments, prayer, ministry, Scripture, the life of Jesus, and the rich traditions of our Catholic faith. Second-grade students prepare for and celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist.

Our weekly school Mass allows students to take an active role by leading readings, petitions, offertory gifts, and music. In addition to celebrating all Holy Days of Obligation, students participate in special liturgies and prayer services, including Stations of the Cross during Lent, the rosary, religious retreats, and other faith-filled experiences.

We understand that when you are little, you may not understand what is happening during Mass. To meet the needs of our youngest students, we offer the Prayer Buddies program, in which we partner upper class students with Pre-K4, kindergarten and first grade boys and girls. Older students act as mentors, helping younger students focus on and follow the Mass. Their special relationships continue to grow as they participate in school activities together and see each other around campus. The program benefits older students by teaching them leadership skills.

We believe that is in sharing our gifts with others that we truly show gratitude to God. Our students are encouraged to share their time, talent and treasure in service to others. They have collected food and clothing for the needy in their community, made cards and wrote letters to shut-ins and those in the military, participated in collections benefiting students in the remote mountains of our sister diocese in the Dominican Republic, and more.
