Elementary (Grades K-5)
Our elementary program, serving Kindergarten through Grade 5, provides a strong academic foundation in a supportive and nurturing environment. Students learn in primarily self-contained classrooms, where core subjects—reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies—are enriched with art, music, physical education, library, and technology. Faith is woven into all aspects of learning, fostering both academic and spiritual growth.
We recognize that every child’s educational journey is unique. With small class sizes, our teachers build meaningful connections with students, tailoring instruction to meet individual needs. Dedicated instructional assistants further support student learning, ensuring a personalized approach.
Our rigorous curriculum emphasizes fundamental skills that develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. In this warm, small-class setting, we focus on building confidence and self-esteem—key elements for academic success and lifelong learning.
Middle SChool (Grades 6-8)
Our middle school program builds upon the strong foundation established in the elementary years, guiding students toward greater independence and academic growth. In a departmentalized setting, subject-area specialists provide instruction, allowing students to deepen their knowledge and develop critical thinking skills. With increased responsibilities, students learn essential time management and note-taking skills, build self-confidence, and become fully prepared for the challenges of high school.
Technology is seamlessly integrated into learning through project-based assignments, fostering creativity, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving.
Beyond academics, middle school students are encouraged to embrace their role as responsible members of both the school and the larger community. Leadership opportunities within the school help them develop confidence, while service initiatives and global awareness programs empower them to recognize their impact on the world around them.
Enrichment
At St. Andrew Catholic School, we are committed to educating the whole child by providing enriching experiences that go beyond the traditional classroom. Our developmentally appropriate enrichment classes help students build confidence, discover their unique talents, and enhance their academic journey.
Students in full-day Pre-K4 through Grade 8 participate in a variety of enrichment opportunities, including computer, media center, music, art, and physical education. Research shows that integrating the arts and physical movement alongside core subjects fosters deeper learning and overall academic success. By offering a well-rounded curriculum, we nurture creativity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.
Resource Program
Our Resource Program is designed to support students in a nurturing environment where they receive small-group instruction tailored to their individual learning needs. Through teacher observations and diagnostic assessments, we identify specific skill areas for growth and provide targeted interventions to strengthen academic foundations.
With the use of effective learning strategies, technology integration, and guided instruction, students are empowered to build confidence, achieve personal goals, and enhance their overall academic success. Our goal is to ensure that every student receives the support they need to thrive.
Progress Testing
To ensure the overall quality of the curriculum at St. Andrew Catholic School and to monitor the progress of each individual student, standardized achievement tests are given annually to students. Parents generally receive a copy of test results, and scores are recorded in the child’s cumulative record folder. Tests we administer include:
Florida VPK Assessment (state law requires pre- and post-assessment)
FLKRS — basic concepts test given to kindergarteners in the Fall
Terra Nova — administered to children in grades 2-8 in the Spring; measures child’s academic progress
Assessment of Catechesis Religious Education (ACRE) — administered to students in grades 5-8; measures both faith knowledge (as well as beliefs, behaviors, attitudes, and practices
MAP Testing — administered to children in K-8 during the Fall, Winter and Spring
Student Performance Expectations
The Curriculum in the Diocese of Orlando is based upon the expectations of broad areas of knowledge and competence that Catholic school students achieve by the time they graduate from the 12th grade. These espectations are considered on-going student performance goals throughout all grade levels. These student performance goals are a priority as elementary schools and high schools develop curriculum and deliver instruction.
(A more detailed description of student performance expectations can be found in the parent-student handbook.)
Academic Records
Copies of student records are available to any parent/guardian when requested. For students transferring to another school, the original records must be sent using the United States Postal Service according to state law. A summary form of academic record is kept at SACS for eternity.
St. Andrew Catholic School is fully accredited by the Florida Catholic Conference. All teachers are licensed by the state of Florida. The curriculum meets and exceeds standards set by the State of Florida and the Diocese of Orlando.
